Betty Jean Olson, a long time resident of Mankato, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday July 10, 2024 at the age of 91.Betty was the youngest of 9 children and the last survivor of her siblings. Betty is survived by her two daughters, Rita Cook (married to Steve) and Christine Wetzel both of whom live in Washington where Betty passed away. Her only son, Frank Melvin Olson, preceded her in death. In addition Betty is survived by three grandsons, Loren Cook, Joshua King-Olson (married to Crystal) and Jacob Olson; her great-grandson Chandler and her great grand-daughter Caroline.Betty had many interests throughout her long life including hunting and fishing when she was a young girl and popular dances of the time such as the jitterbug as an adult. In her later years Betty would find pleasure in reading book after book as well as embroidery and puzzle-solving.A celebration of life will be held at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 720 S 2nd St. in Mankato at 2pm on August 31st.Please come and share stories and celebrate the life of this amazing person.

Louis Compart, age 90 of Nicollet, died Monday, August 5, 2024 at Hillcrest Care and Rehabilitation Center in Mankato.A funeral service will be held at 4pm on Saturday, August 10, 2024 at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home - SOUTH chapel in New Ulm. David passed away August 1st, 2024 surrounded by loved ones after a short but ferocious battle with cancer.David was born in Minnesota on Oct 4th, 1957. He grew up in Eagle Lake, Mn and he graduated from Mankato East High School in 1976.After graduation, David moved to Coronado Island, CA and that's where he met the love of his life, Kathleen Burns. They married in 1986 and they cherished their life together until Kathleen's passing in 2022.David was a savvy businessman who put his skills to use as an owner/ operator of several businesses, including car dealerships and real estate holdings.During his extensive time in California, he lived throughout the southern area including San Diego, La Jolla, San Franscisco, Borrego Springs and Palm Springs. David had simultaneous residences that matched his values and interests, that ranged from city lifestyles to cultures embracing nature and wildlife. He was able to keep his heart close to home in this way with Minnesota locations on Lake Minnetonka, Mille Lacs and Gull Lake.David was a travel and exploration enthusiast, with some of his core hobbies that included RV camping, fishing, sight- seeing serene settings and he was an avid foodie. He enjoyed the culinary arts, whether it was gourmet fine dining or handcrafting meals at home.David was also a devoted pet owner to his dog, Heidi. Above all else, he adored everyday moments spent with family and friends, simply chatting or playing games. Beloved mother, grandmother, wife and sister, Mary Ann (Sieberg) Oberle passed away after a long illness on August 1, 2024, surrounded by her loving family in Mankato. Born in Eagle Lake, Minn., on January 2, 1932, Mary Ann lived a long and fulfilling life, leaving school at age 16 to find work in Mankato, and ultimately marrying the love of her life, Anthony Oberle, in 1954 and subsequently raising five children in their West Mankato home.The consummate homemaker, Mary Ann supported her husband in his work by making that West 9th Street home a joyful and loving place to grow up. She gave up the family yard to a ball field, golf hole, basketball court, football field and most famously a skating rink, where she taught her kids to skate and opened it up to the neighborhood for pickup hockey games and figure skating.With her kids growing, Mary Ann finished her studies and acquired a G.E.D. so she could return to work, first at Mankato Free Press and later at Shari Candies. Her hands were never idle at home, where she launched a green recycling campaign, often telling her children and grandkids that "everything has a second purpose." Reserved by nature, Mary Ann had a quick wit in quiet conversations, was an avid gardener, baker and candy maker and always a very loving and giving grandmother.In 2019, Mary Ann, who had spent much of her retired time volunteering at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church (where she was a charter member) and Hillcrest Nursing Home, moved to Primrose Assisted Living (now Mankato Lodge) and spent her final days joking with and enjoying the camaraderie of the staff there. She leaves us now with heavy hearts and warm memories of a life well-lived and a rest well-earned.Mary Ann is survived by five adult children, Robert (Margaret), Nokomis, Fla., Joseph (Lora), Fridley, Gail Kelly (Daniel), Red Wing, Patricia (Paul Cullen), Minneapolis, and William (Kathy), Mankato; brother, Ollie Sieberg, Mankato; and sister-in-law, Maggie Oberle, Mankato; 11 adult grandchildren: Jason, Alice Fahey (John], Tony, Seth, Teddy (Molly), Paige, Hunter (Kate) and Grace Oberle and Nate Kelly (Aly), Amanda Knudsen (Robert) and Katie Kelly; and three great-grandchildren: Casey, Addison and Megan Fahey. Judith "Judy" K. Pollei, age 79, of Mapleton, died Tuesday, July 30, 2024, at the Mapleton Community Home, with family by her bedside.Funeral Service will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 9, 2024, at St. John Lutheran Church, Mapleton. Visitation will be one hour before service. Interment will be in West Delavan Lutheran Cemetery, rural Delavan. Memorials may be given to St. John Lutheran Church or American Cancer Society.Judith was born November 6, 1944, to Daniel L. and Lillie M. (Sommer) Wick in Mapleton. She graduated from Mapleton High School in 1963. After high school she worked for a dry cleaner. Judy was united in marriage to Donald Pollei on August 26, 1967, at St. John Lutheran Church, Mapleton. She later worked for Country Neighbors Assisted Living, Olson Tichenor Funeral Home, and Fron's Hardware. Judy was a lifelong member of St. John Lutheran Church where she was very active. She was on the church council, quilting group, ladies aide, and taught Sunday school. Jerome "Jerry" Flanagan, age 87, of Mankato, died on July 31, 2024 at Pathstone Living. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 13, 2024 from 3:00-5:00 p.m. at Northview-North Mankato Mortuary. A Celebration of Life will follow at Hooligan's from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Jerome was born on July 20, 1937 in Mankato to Delbert and Ruth (Frank) Flanagan. He graduated from Mankato High. Jerry served in the United States Army from January 5, 1957-November 27, 1958. He was an Army athlete and played on the U.S. Army baseball team. After serving in the Army, Jerry was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals minor league baseball team. After an injury Jerry went on to college at Mankato State College and earned his bachelor's and master's degrees. He played basketball while at Mankato State. On September 15, 1962, Jerry was united in marriage to Patricia Bailey at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Owatonna. Jerry taught health and physical education at St. Clair, Franklin Junior High where he also coached 8th grade boys basketball. He finished his teaching career at Mankato East Junior High and retired in 1993. Jerry enjoyed hunting and fishing with many trips to the Dakotas and Canada. He also enjoyed playing tennis and golf and traveling. Jerry and Pat spent many years wintering in Naples, FL. They loved hosting dinner parties in their home. Jerry always enjoyed time spent with his grandsons and watching their various activities. Jerry is survived by his daughter, Kelley (Jeff) Hokeness; son, Jerrel (Carrie) Flanagan; and grandsons, Larssen Hokeness, Keiryn Flanagan, and Liam Flanagan. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Pat; and sister, Joanne (Paul) Laven.

Gerald "Jack" Kopacek, 92, of Belle Plaine, MN, formerly of Willmar, MN, died July 16, 2024. His funeral will be 10:30 am, Wednesday, August 7, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Willmar. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at Olivia Cemetery. He was baptized at Olivia Methodist Church. Jack graduated from Olivia Public Schools in 1950. After high school, Jack enlisted in the U.S. Army where he was part of the 508th engineer group and was a paratrooper during the Korean War. On November 14, 1954, Jack was united in marriage to Doris Lieske at St. John's Lutheran Church in Vesta, MN. While Jack was serving in the Army, they lived in Ft. Campbell, KY and Ft. Benning, GA. Following his discharge, they made their home in Mankato, MN where they spent 28 years. Jack was an active member at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Mankato, where throughout those years he ended having served in all of the church offices. In 1984 Jack's job with MnDOT took them to Willmar. In Willmar, Jack was a member at Immanuel Lutheran Church and held several church offices there as well. Jack worked for MnDOT as a registered Highway Engineer and Land Surveyor for 42 years; where, at the end of those years, he retired as the Maintenance and Pre Operations Supervisor. Following Doris's death in 2022, Jack moved to Belle Plaine to be near his family. Jack had a passion for fishing and went fishing as often as he could. His family meant everything to him. He expressed many times how proud he was of his entire family; and he loved spending time with them. Jack's quick wit, clever sayings, and words of wisdom will always be fondly remembered by his family. Such phrases as: "Come early, stay late", "You'll be a man before your mother", "Knowledge is power", "I was born in a gravel pit and it's been up hill ever since".Jack is survived by his children: Steven (Carolyn) Kopacek and Amy (Brad) Dvorak; grandchildren: John (DeeDee) Dvorak, Elizabeth (Paul) Rassier, Matthew (Erica) Dvorak, Rebecca (Ryan) Koch and Nathan Kopacek; great-grandchildren: Benton, Mason, Ada, Delainey, Lucas and Rowan. He is further survived by his brothers: Gordy Kopacek and Gary Kopacek. He was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Doris; his parents, and an infant grandson.

Mary Lou "ML" Fink (nee Sullivan), of Mankato and St. Paul, died peacefully on July 25, 2024, at Carondelet Village in St. Paul. MN. She was 94 years old. She was born at home on the family farm near Cottonwood, MN on March 22, 1930 to Mary (Martin) and Hugh Sullivan. After graduating from Cottonwood H.S., she obtained her teaching license from St. Cloud Teacher's College and taught in a one-room schoolhouse in Kimball, MN. In the summer of 1950, Mary Lou's brother, Larry, introduced her to Robert "Bob" Fink, one of his SJU friends. Their courtship led to a loving marriage of 55 years. On December 29, 1951, Mary Lou and Bob married and moved to an apartment in Dinkytown while Bob attended the U of M Dental School, and ML worked part-time at the university library. After graduation from dental school, Bob enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, and the couple was stationed at Alamogordo, New Mexico. Upon discharge in 1958, Mary Lou and Bob moved to Mankato where Bob opened a dental practice. For the next six decades, they made Mankato their home, raising their six children and being involved in church and community, and finding time for dance and card clubs and golf. In 1981, Mary Lou earned a four-year teaching degree from Mankato State College, graduating at the age of 50 with a degree in elementary education, following the tradition of her mother. Throughout her life, she treasured her years as a wife, teacher, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Bob and ML were active members of St. Joseph the Worker and St. John the Baptist churches and loyal supporters of the Mankato Catholic Schools. Besides cheering on her children and grandchildren, she enjoyed time spent with her friends and neighbors on West 7th Street, South Redwood Drive, and Diamond Creek. She warmly welcomed friends in bridge and Pfeffer clubs, Mankato Newcomers, and Lunch Bunch.Mary Lou was known to be an empathetic listener, always offering kind words and gentle guidance, especially to those in need. She lived life with a loving spirit and strong faith. Mary Lou's sparkle and big heart will be missed. The Rev. James H. Pragman, Th.D., passed from his earthly life to his heavenly life on Saturday, July 27, 2024, at the hospital in Mankato, MN. He departed peacefully following a brief illness due to Anaplastic thyroid cancer.Immediate survivors are his wife, Claudia, and his daughters, Alexa and Alison Pragman. Visitation will be held at Mankato Mortuary on August 1, 2024, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. The Service of the Resurrection will be held at Hosanna Lutheran Church, Mankato, MN, on Friday, August 2, 2024, at 11:00 a.m., followed by a luncheon. Roger J. Scheurer, age 77, of Kasota, died July, 28, 2024, at his home. A Celebration of Roger's Life will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 3, 2024, at Northview - North Mankato Mortuary. He graduated from Mankato High School in 1967 and Mankato Vocational School with a degree in tool and die machinist. He worked at Kato Engineering while going to school. Roger started building tractor cab in a farm shop with Kenny Hiniker in the summer of 1970. Roger was instrumental in the creation and expansion of Hiniker Company. He saw many changes in the agricultural industry throughout the 50 years of employment there. Roger retired in 2019 to enjoy his Florida home. Roger was united in marriage to Mary Hollerich on June 7, 1969, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Good Thunder. Last month they celebrated 55 years together.Roger was a member of Knights of Columbus and the Red Men Club in St. Peter. Roger loved his job at Hiniker Company, enjoyed vacationing in Florida, watching westerns, happy hour and conversation with friends and watching the wildlife outside his Man Cave. Kimberly 'Kim' Sue (Aho) Covey, age 65, passed away on Thursday July 25, 2024 surrounded by her loving family. Kim was born February 7, 1959 in St. Peter, MN and graduated from Mankato East High School. She was married to her soulmate Gerald 'Jerry' Covey October 23, 1982, in Vernon Center, Minnesota. The two spent their lives together creating a garden oasis at their home outside of Good Thunder, Minnesota where they raised their two girls, Jenna and Katie. Kim was a voracious reader and instilled the love of the written word in her daughters, encouraging them to be strong women who could grow up to be whatever they wanted to be. She loved collecting crystal balls and decorating the house with extra magic for the seasons. She made a mean crock pot dinner and loved dancing to the kitchen radio. A champion for the underdog, Kim had a giant heart and would fight for the people that she loved the most. Kim had a career in sales, notably at Williams Diamond Center and Rooms and Rest Furniture where she shared her eye for beauty and design with the community. Kim was a talented photographer and enjoyed shooting pictures of the moon, her gardens, and especially, her cats. Most of all, Kim cherished spending time with her family—giggling with her girls in the tea house at the pond, walking down the gravel road and watching the sunset with Jerry, and sharing her megawatt smile with her granddaughter Inez. It was the quiet moments that she treasured the most. Her love and light will be missed by all who shared her journey. She is survived by her husband, Jerry Covey of Good Thunder; her daughter, Jenna Covey and son-in-law, Brian Shekleton of St. Louis Park; daughter Katherine Covey Spanier and son-in-law, Reggie Spanier, and granddaughter, Inez Spanier, of Northeast, Minneapolis. She was preceded in death by her mother, Delores (Aho) Brown, step-father, Rev. Frank Brown; and brother, John John Aho. The family will be having a private celebration of life. Dorothy Jo Hiniker, age 59, of Franklin, and previously Mankato, passed away on Thursday, July 25, 2024, at the CentraCare - Redwood Falls Hospital, surrounded by her family. Northview - North Mankato Mortuary is assisting the family with arrangments. Dorothy graduated from Loyola High School and attended Mankato State University. Dorothy had a gift for making heartfelt connections with all who knew her, seeing the good in everyone she met. She loved animals, big and small, especially dogs, cats, and birds. She enjoyed coloring, drawing, crocheting, country music, and socializing. With a resilient spirit, Dorothy persevered through many challenges. The gift of her presence made the world a better place. The spirit of Susan Lee Kohls, age 74, of North Mankato, flew away on Sunday, July 21, 2024 at Mayo Clinic Hospital in Rochester, MN. Susan peacefully passed away with the love of her life, husband Dale Haefner, and her daughter, Meredith O'Leary and son, Aaron O'Leary by her side. Susan, a wife, mother, and grandmother, will be remembered forever in the hearts of family and friends as a loving, kind, gentle, and witty human being. Susan was a woman of enormous intellect and an exceedingly generous heart.Susan was born in Mankato, MN, on May 18, 1950, to Adele and Kenny Kohls. She attended school in Mankato, where she met lifelong girlfriends, the 'Sue's and Barb.' This was the beginning of a recurring theme throughout Susan's life: Her charisma and authenticity left an impact on everyone she knew.Susan was compassionate and volunteered at various organizations that supported vulnerable women, at-risk youth, and terminally ill patients. As a Hospice volunteer, she provided respite and nurturing care for several families, one of which was Angeline Haefner's. During this time, Susan connected with Angie's youngest son, Dale. They fell in love and began a new chapter of their lives.Later in life, Susan became involved with the Guardian ad Litem program and was appointed by the Fifth Judicial District court, working in the Blue Earth and Nicollet County court systems. Susan advocated fiercely for children's best interests in juvenile protection cases, conducting various independent investigations and providing recommendations to the court. She took tremendous pride in her efforts to provide the best possible life for each child and was respected in her role. The bonds she built with her fellow advocates throughout her time as a Guardian became treasured friendships.In 2006, Susan became a Grandma, her proudest title. She and Dale played an instrumental role in raising Regan to be the incredible young woman she is today. They enjoyed cooking, watching The Golden Girls and 80's movies, chair dancing, trips to Schmidt's Meat Market, playing with her doll, Nicole, and spending time with the adorable rescue dog they picked out together, Reilly. She carried a 'brag book' in her purse with photos of Regan and would proudly describe each picture while flipping the pages. When kindergarten began, Susan was a staple in the school parking lot to wish Regan a 'fabulous first day.' She was the best listener and always gave Regan the most insightful advice.Music was a significant part of Susan's life. Music always played in her house, and she enjoyed taking extended drives in her car to listen to her favorite artists. A prerequisite when purchasing a vehicle was the speaker quality for this reason. She attended many excellent concerts and especially loved to attend and support her favorite musician, husband Dale Haefner, listening and watching him perform on the piano with City Mouse and other local and regional groups. Richard Henry Kruger, 91, of Mankato died July 19, 2024, surrounded by his family at the Pillars. A private family service will be held later. Burial will be at Glenwood Cemetery, Mankato, MN. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Mark's Lutheran Church. Richard was born February 12, 1933, in Zumbro Falls, MN to Willis and Johanna Kruger. He graduated from Wabasha High School in 1951 and served in the U.S Army from 1953 to 1955. He graduated from the University of Minnesota with a Bachelor of Science degree in Fisheries and Wildlife Management. On September 22, 1962, he married Patricia Ann Thul in St. Paul, MN. He worked as a Conservation Officer with the Department of Natural Resources for 32 years, retiring in 1992. In addition, he was an adjunct instructor at Minnesota State University for 15 years in the Department of Recreation, Parks, and Leisure Services. In retirement, Richard was a Bailiff at the Blue Earth County Courthouse from 1993 to 2002. Richard was an avid trap shooter. He enjoyed upland game and waterfowl hunting. He especially liked to fly fish on streams and rivers, "feeling that moving water was soothing for the soul." Other favorite pastimes were carving duck decoys and collecting antique waterfowl decoys. He received numerous awards for recognition of his services. Most notably, the Division of Enforcement Director's award for assisting in rescuing duck hunters on Swan Lake during the Halloween Blizzard of 1990. But most of all, Richard was a loving husband, dad, and grandpa. His patient guidance instilled a love for the outdoors and respect for the environment. His family has wonderful memories of many hunting, fishing, and camping adventures. His kindness and integrity was an inspiration for all. Richard is survived by his wife of 61 years, Patricia; his son, Bill (Sonja) and their children, Kiersten (fiancé A.J.) and Maria; his daughter, Kathy (Bill) Oberle and their children, Hunter (Kate) Oberle and Grace; daughter- in- law, Elizabeth (Brian) Kruger Peterson and their children, Tony (Maddisen), Alex (Nikki), Alissa (Sean), and Ava (Alex); 4 great- grandchildren; his sister, Darlene McDonald of Wabasha; and many nieces and nephews. Richard was preceded in death by his son, Mark Kruger in 1993, his brother, Willis Kruger Jr, and his parents, Willis and Johanna Kruger. As a teenager, she worked summers at the Hillcrest Drive-In, where she met the love of her life, Clem Bachmeyer. They were united in marriage on August 30, 1952, and were blessed with five daughters. Linda was a stay-at-home mom for many years, eventually taking jobs at Shari Candies, Hi-Way Liquor, and Mary's Cleaning over the years, so she would have time to be with her girls when they were not in school. Eventually she worked at Cub Foods as a cashier, ending up in customer service for many years. What Linda loved most was being with her family and friends and traveling throughout the US with Clem. One of the things that Linda was very good at was showing her love and compassion to all of the people she loved in her lifetime. Larry Rex Hansen, born June 3, 1944 in Oakes, North Dakota, to Frank and Mable (Eddy) Hansen, grew up south of Guelph. After a childhood on the farm and service to his country in the Army National Guard, he married his high school sweetheart, Nancy Hvistendahl and had four children: Martin Hansen (Shawn), Randy Hansen (Spring), Loren Hansen (Rachel), and Amanda Harris (Tony).Nineteen years as a cattleman in ND were followed by twenty years in Mankato, MN, where he volunteered at his children's Christian school, drove a school bus, and fixed tires.He had a special love in his heart for spreading his Savior's love through missions and helping the youth. Larry made several mission trips to Africa and Myanmar to help missionaries preach to the native people. He taught servant leadership through coaching basketball and fostering children. Over 27 years, Larry and Nancy nurtured 120 foster children. His love for Jesus was expressed in his life choices as he was always ready to lend people a hand when they needed it. In retirement, Larry and Nancy spent 20 years heading south for the winter where they enjoyed visiting family and friends and touring these great United States.Larry spent his last four years back on his beloved farm surrounded by the things that he treasured, family, horses, and cattle.With his family by his side, Larry passed away peacefully on July 21, 2024 after a long battle with Alzheimer's. She was an avid artist, creating oil painting and fused glass jewelry. Mary Ann Maruska, age 97, of Lonsdale, formerly of New Prague, passed away on Saturday July 20, 2024, at The Villages of Lonsdale. Mary Ann was born on September 15, 1926, on the family farm in Wheatland Township, Rice County, Minnesota to Ben A. and Anna M. (Schoenbauer) Barta. The first of six children, she attended country school, Immaculate Conception School and St. Wenceslaus School. She married Edward J. Maruska on September 25, 1945, at Immaculate Conception Church in Lonsdale and farmed in Helena Township, Scott County, where they raised their family.Mary Ann enjoyed reading, baking, and spent many hours quilting with the St. Wenceslaus quilters. She was recognized by the Minnesota State Knights of Columbus Auxiliary for her service to the auxiliary, church and community. Mary Ann was a caring, helping role model in the community and was well known and loved by many. She volunteered at St. Wenceslaus with numerous groups and committees. June Moldstad was called to her eternal home on July 19, 2024. She was born Edith June Barber in Bedford, England on June 2, 1938 to Violet and Stanley Barber. She was baptized into the Christian faith as a child. After her parents divorced and during WWII, her mother fell in love with an American soldier named George Howard. On July 8, 1947, Edith and her mother came to the United States through Ellis Island on the ship Britannia to join George in Muskegon, MI. In 1956, at the age of 18, Edith became a United States citizen and changed her name to June Edith Howard. She married Bruce Bestervelt on March 23, 1958. This uinion was blessed with two daughters, Jo and Terri. The family lived in Michigan, California, Texas, Minnesota and Florida. June worked as an Administrative Assistant at many places during her lifetime. She was widowed in March, 1982 and six years later married Rev John Moldstad on January 1, 1988. They lived in Florida and Minnesota. June found herself widowed again in December, 2022. In addition to being a faithful pastor's wife to both of her husbands, June was also active in her church teaching Sunday School, singing in the choir, serving as a church secretary, and always desiring to serve her Lord.She is survived by her brother, Robin (and Barb) Howard; sister-in-law, Marcia (Carl) Bjerregaard; brother-in-law, Edward (Marilyn) Mallonen; her children: daughter-in-law Joslyn; son, Don (and Gina) Moldstad; daughters, Jo (and Thomas) Petersen; Lois (and Paul) Fick; and Terri Fossedal; many grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Elizabeth "Bette" RademacherBorn September 9th, 1922, to Hugh & Anna Grace Jones in her grandparents' home in Mankato, MN, Bette passed peacefully on July 13th, 2024, at her Ecumen Pathstone residence in Mankato. Married to Charles "Chuck" Rademacher on June 3rd, 1944, Bette moved to Lebanon, PA while Chuck was on military service in WWII, and returned to Mankato in August of 1946. Bette was a homemaker who worked with the Camp Fire Girls, Boy Scouts, and Jobs Daughters. She was also a devoted member of Centenary Methodist Church in Mankato (Eastern Star, P.E.O.). Bette loved spending time with family and friends, playing in her bridge club, bird watching, gardening, following the Twins and Vikings, and crocheting hats for donation to newborn babies at the Mankato hospital. Everywhere she went, people knew and loved Bette, as she is considered a pillar of the Greater Mankato area. Bette was preceded in passing by her daughter Jackie Schmidt - Mankato, MN and great granddaughter Elsa Kolars - Mankato, MN. It was during this time that he would meet his future wife Lavonne (Stordahl). Steve and LaVonne were married on July 28, 1973 and started their life together in Madelia. Madelia was great to them over the course of his life. In the early years Steve enjoyed playing baseball in the town league and spending time with friends and family. In his spare time, he enjoyed driving around and looking at crops, talking to people that still farmed and inspecting the pond project. Steve was active in the Madelia community throughout his life. He participated on many boards; 4-H, Ag Chamber, LaSalle Farmers Grain/Crystal Valley Coop, LaSalle Meat Locker and Trinity Lutheran Church Council.Family meant everything to Steve, he was blessed with three wonderful daughters and seven grandchildren. His grandchildren provided him so much joy and he loved watching and participating in their many activities over the course of the years. MANKATO - Wallace Darold Richter, passed away peacefully on July 19, 2024, at the age of 87, at his cabin on Strawberry Lake near Ogema, Minnesota. Born on November 10, 1936, in Pleasant Mound Township, Minnesota, to Harold and Loretta (Altenberg) Richter, Wally led a life marked by devotion to his family, relationships with friends, and service to his country.Wally graduated from Garden City High School in 1954. After graduation, he honorably served in the United States Army from 1954 to 1956. Upon his return, he began working at the Trimont Coop in Trimont, Minnesota. During this time, Wally developed a love for Strawberry Lake, which became his second home for the rest of his life. Wally met the love of his life, Phyllis Flohrs at Trimont. They married on October 17, 1959, built a home there and started their lives together. In the 1960's he worked for American Cyanamid in Ormsby, Minnesota. Wally furthered his education at Mankato Vocational School, earning a degree in civil technology in 1970. He and Phyllis then moved their family to Mankato, Minnesota where they presently reside. While in Mankato, Wally worked as a Civil Engineer for the City of Mankato, from which he retired in 1998 after 28 years of service. Wally was a man of faith, baptized and confirmed in his youth (at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Vernon Center). He and his wife, Phyllis, were long-time members of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Galena Township and later Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and Hosanna Lutheran Church in Mankato.Wally was passionate about attending his grandchildren's events, fishing for walleyes, and woodworking—having built 90 log cabin birdhouses for special people and organizations in his life. He enjoyed playing solitaire on the computer, reading old western novels, and home remodeling. He was also a proud member of the American Legion Post No. 11 in Mankato.Wally was a cherished figure in his community, known for his fantastic sense of humor, his willingness to help others, and his ability to make everyone feel like part of his family. He was loved and adored by many, including his grand-dogs, who enjoyed many peaceful moments on his lap.He leaves his wife of nearly 65 years, Phyllis (Flohrs) Richter of Mankato; children, Ron (Tyana) Richter of Mankato, Ross (Val) Richter of Morristown, Todd Richter of Glendale, Arizona, and Kristin (Scott) Dauk of Madison Lake; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind his brother Doug (Joni) Richter of Fairmont, several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, many loyal friends and extended family members. Nancy R. MacKenzie, age 73, of North Mankato, died on Saturday, July 20, 2024 after a short illness. Nancy was born on March 29, 1951 in La Junta, CO to Donald and Dorothy (VanSchooten) Rose. She graduated from Eads High School in 1969. Nancy received a BA degree from the University of Colorado in 1973, a MA degree from Kansas State University in 1976, and a Doctor of Arts from Drake University in Des Moines. Nancy was married to Raymond MacKenzie and they were later divorced in 1987. Nancy was a professor in the Department of English at Minnesota State University for 34 years where she taught Technical Communications. In 1994 she published the textbook, Science and Technology Today. Throughout her life, Nancy was very involved with a church family, most recently she was a member of Hilltop United Methodist Church and was involved in women's weekly bible study. Nancy enjoyed international travel and was a member of her beloved mystery book club for over 20 years. Having grown up on a farm, Nancy was a lover of horses. Nancy was steadfast in her love of her two children and six grandchildren and will be a lasting influence in all of their lives. Nancy is survived by her son, Philip MacKenzie of Cape Girardeau, MO; daughter, Fiona (Dan) Swanson of St. Peter; grandsons, Liam, Brody, and Theo Swanson and William MacKenzie; honorary grandchildren, Laela and Verena Murray; sister, Shirley Rose (Leon Johnson) of Chandler, AZ; and brother, Nathan Rose of Las Animas, CO. Dennis Edward Tyrrell of St. Louis Park, Minnesota, passed away on July 17, 2024. Dennis was born on December 1, 1943, in Mankato, Minnesota, to Edward Luke Tyrrell and Ella Irene (Tolzmann) Tyrrell.He grew up in Wells, Minnesota, where he graduated from high school and played the saxophone. He received a bachelor's degree from Mankato State University. Dennis became licensed in securities and insurance. He worked as a financial planner for many years. Dennis had a love of classic cars. He frequently drove his 1968 Pontiac Bonneville convertible in local parades. Dennis is survived by his four children: Judge Natalie Tyrrell, Denise DeKoter, Daniel Tyrrell, and Amber Tyrrell, and his five grandchildren: Nathan Loyd, Peyton Tyrrell, Isabella Tyrrell, Chase DeKoter, and Ryan DeKoter.

Lind on July 20, 1968 at St. Peter Ev. Lutheran Church, St. Peter. Marlene worked as an educator for both St. Peter Public School District as well as Jack and Jill Nursery School, retiring in 2006. She was an active member of St. Peter Lutheran Church where she volunteered weekly at the school and served on numerous committees. She enjoyed playing bridge and many social activities with her friends. Marlene's smile could light up a room and her laugh was contagious.Marlene is survived by three children, Mark Lind of Cottage Grove, MN, Karla (Tim) Samuelson of St. Peter, and Kari (John) Lind-Tufte of Ft. Maurice Allen Walker (Maury) went to be with the Lord July 12, 2024 at Birchwood Cottages, North Mankato. Maurice was born June 4, 1937 to Harold and Stella (Marie) Walker. He married Sharon Claude September 26, 1959; they had four children. First, he lived on the family farm, then moved to Delavan, MN. He graduated from Delavan High School. He enjoyed his dog Benji and cat Sable. He was a talented musician; he performed with two gospel quartets: "The Spokesmen" and "The Brothers." He served in the military and was honorably discharged from McGregor Range Fort Bliss. He worked for MNDOT until his retirement. He raised his family in Wells, MN and later resided in Blue Earth, MN. He is survived by his wife Sharon, children Jeffrey (Donna), Jolene (Fred), Janelle (Eric), and Joshua (Shari), sixteen Grandchildren, twelve Great Grandchildren, brother and sister-in-law Frank Claude (Kathy), sister and brother-in-law Candice Kleinbeck (Jeff). Her family moved to Benton Harbor, Michigan when she was about 10 years old. Lillian was the second youngest of ten siblings. Lillian graduated from St. John's High School, Benton Harbor, Michigan, May 28, 1948 and attended Junior College of Benton Harbor. Lillian worked as an assistant to the Treasurer of Barrien County, Michigan. Lillian met Charles Sehe when he came with a fellow veteran and classmate from the University of Iowa to work during the summer on the Lysaght farm. After meeting the approval of her parents, Lillian married Charles T. Sehe on June 20, 1953, in Benton Harbor, Michigan. Lillian and Charles moved to Iowa City while Charles completed his degree and research at the University of Iowa. After several moves, they made their home and raised their family in Mankato. Lillian was devoted to her family and her faith. She was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Mankato. Lillian enjoyed sewing, knitting, and crocheting, and when time permitted playing Bridge.Lillian is survived by her husband of 71 years, Charles Sehe; children Isabel Sehe, Mary (Clarence) Ites, Kieran (Frank Vito) Loparco, Elizabeth Sehe, and James Sehe; four grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, two great-great- grandchildren, many nephews, nieces and their families.Lillian was preceded in death by her parents, and siblings Charles Marshall, James Richard, William Anthony, Marie (Lysaght) Calvert, Sr. Mary Blanche Lysaght RSM (Jeanne Isabelle), John Frances, James Henry, Col. Jeffrey Matthew Leiferman, aged 69, of Thornton, CO, passed away peacefully on July 13, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Born on July 7, 1955 in Wells, MN. Jeff was the beloved son of Aloysius and Dorothy Leiferman.Jeff worked as an accountant and retired from Land O Lakes after nearly 40 years of service. He dedicated his life to his family and was known for his love of Minnesota and Colorado sports teams. His humor and charm touched the lives of many.He is survived by his children Matt, Anna (Dane Mariotti), Josh, and Natalie (Arslan Khan), grandchildren Eli & Emery (Mariotti) and sisters Nancy (Mike) and Lori (David) and countless friends who became family.Jeff enjoyed spending time with his family and could be found on the sidelines of every gymnastics meet, soccer, basketball, baseball, softball and rugby practice, game or event of his children and grandchildren. Jeff was a quiet man with a beguiling smile who was known to get a bit rowdy after a few drinks. Due to family being spread apart in Colorado and Minnesota there will not be a memorial service. Instead, his children will spread his ashes at his favorite hiking trail in Boulder, CO. If you wish to send Jeff off please say a prayer that the Vikings will actually have a winning season this year. His legacy will live on through the lives he touched and the memories we hold near. He will be dearly missed but will forever remain in our hearts.

John Ramy, 89, died Wednesday July 3, 2024 at Mayo Clinic Health Systems Hospital in Mankato with family by his side. John was born June 1, 1935 in Mankato, MN to Tom and Adele Ramy. John loved to tell stories about growing up in the family-owned grocery store in lower North Mankato. John worked at Continental Can in Mankato as a machine operator for 40 years before retiring in 1995. John married Doris Baier on April 30, 1971 in Mankato. The couple enjoyed duck hunting, fishing, golfing, bowling, gardening, cooking and occasionally visiting area casinos together.John loved to prepare and share Lebanese food. John was a witty storyteller and loved a good joke.John is survived by his stepchildren, several nieces and nephews, cousins.John was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Ramy; parents, Tom and Adele Ramy; sister, Rosalene Ramy; brother, Charles Ramy; and his infant nephew.

Samuel "Sam" Paul Menne, 21, Sioux Falls, South Dakota, passed away July 13th in a motorcycle accident when a car unexpectedly pulled in front of him. Sam was born on May 10, 2003 in Mankato, Minnesota to Paul and Mary Menne. He was the oldest of 10, a natural leader and was always helping others. When God called his family to Colorado, his sister was born. He became a big brother for the first time and immediately embraced the role. He also put on his first pair of hockey skates in the mountains near Pike's Peak, beginning his love of hockey which would continue through high school. Upon returning to Minnesota, he was blessed with his first little brother and he started hockey in full force. He eventually transitioned to goalie which suited his personality of being a rock solid protector for his family, friends and country. He was so excited to start school, meet friends and be independent. Sam loved his family, but friends were also very important to him. He was a people pleaser and loved to make people smile. He had such an inquisitive mind taking things apart and figuring out how they worked. His first science fair project was an electric generator, which would also become a meaningful part of his life in Sioux Falls. Sam genuinely enjoyed school and loved helping out. In his younger years he was a school patrol, enjoyed being a buddy reader and was a great big brother helping with his younger siblings at school. As he got older he volunteered to serve breakfast at school and joined Henderson's Sauerkraut Krew. He was also known to be found cleaning up the local parks, shoveling neighbors' driveways or walking with his siblings around town. He loved to be outside and was thrilled to attend a school trip to the Minnesota Boundary Waters. The love of the outdoors and fishing never left him. He was an active athlete competing in high school hockey, track, and cross country. There wasn't a board he couldn't ride; wakeboard, snowboard, longboard, surfboard, skimboard, and kneeboard. Although he broke a few bones he was a natural at learning new tricks. Fearlessly he attempted jumps, road waves and recorded many hours on his go-pro. Sam enjoyed working with his hands. He loved shop class, especially welding and wood working. He would later put those skills to use during his deployment. He was always working on his trucks. He was a hard worker whether it was milking cows on a dairy farm, in restaurants at Dairy Queen or Chick-fil-A, automotive work at TMS Automotive and Manlys, or as a field supervisor for installing fiber lines. His two favorite jobs were the US Army and Harvard Integrations in Sioux Falls. When Sam wasn't working he enjoyed time on the water both in his grandpa's fishing boat and on his family's boat enjoying water sports. He taught his siblings to water ski, wakeboard and kneeboard. He was the crazy kid you'd see slalom skiing with an American flag in hand. He also enjoyed gaming with family and friends. He was a very passionate person and could be heard at any hour talking loudly with his gaming crew. He also loved playing Minecraft with his siblings and loved teaching his youngest sisters how to game. Sam joined the US Army Reserves during his junior year and arrived at Fort Jackson, SC for basic training just 27 days removed from turning 17, making him one of the youngest Americans to complete basic training in modern times. After graduating basic training he returned home for his senior year and graduated from Le Sueur-Henderson High School. Following that he went to his specialized Army schooling to be a Wheeled Vehicle Mechanic at the US Army Ordnance Corps & School at Fort Gregg-Adams in Virginia. After that, he joined his friends in Sioux Falls, South Dakota and attended Southeast Technical College to earn an AAS in Diesel Technology. Before completing his degree, the Nation called upon Sam and his Army Reserve unit, the 323 Chemical Company to deploy to Kuwait for a year in support of Operation Enduring Freedom (Spartan Shield). He returned home safely this spring. His military awards include the Army Accommodation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, and the Armed Forces Medal with M Device.Following his deployment and before classes were to resume this fall, Sam was working at Harvard Integration, helping assemble giant diesel generators for some of the world's largest companies.Waiting in Heaven for Sam was his Uncle Nate and many other loved ones. Sam is now lovingly waiting in Heaven for his Mom, Dad, Lauren, Matthew, William, Elijah, Peter, Isaac, Josephine, Hazel, Charlotte, his dog Teddy, and many of his family and friends. Sam was never one for flowers and was always helping people. Margaret Elizabeth Shoemaker, 66, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 14, 2024 surrounded by loved ones at the Mayo Clinic Hospital in Mankato, MN after a steadfast battle with cancer. Margie was born on March 12, 1958 to Richard and Elizabeth Boyer in Johnstown, PA. She grew up in Clinton, MD with her parents, sister Debbie, brother Ryan, and their tightly knit family of the best cousins, aunts, uncles, and grandparents. There was never a shortage of road-trips, family parties, laughter, or memories. Before graduating from Surrattsville High School in 1976, Margie met her future husband while he was stationed in Washington D.C. as part of the United States Air Force Honor Guard. Margie and Brian Shoemaker were married on April 11, 1981 at Bethany Lutheran Church in Suitland, MD. Their married years were spent in different states across the country and overseas while raising their three children, Brandie, Stacy, and Troy. Margie loved her family and friends immensely. She enjoyed watching the Twins play baseball, taking care of her dachshunds, decorating, baking her famous strawberry rhubarb coffee cake, and vacationing in Ocean City, MD. Margie touched the lives of many and will be sincerely missed by all who had the honor of knowing her. In his free time Jolly loved to create things and was always thinking. He also loved snowmobiling, bowling, softball, fishing, hunting, golfing and his friend Jack Daniels. JON ALFRED TRAHMS, age 80, of Janesville passed away Sunday morning, July 14, 2024 at Bridgewater in Janesville.Born on January 4, 1944 in Waseca, Jon was the eldest son of Alfred and Dorothy (Storjohann) Trahms. He attended Trinity Lutheran School and graduated from Janesville High School with the class of 1961. He attended the University of Minnesota until he enlisted in the Army Reserve. He spent basic training at Ft. Leonard Wood in Missouri and served until his honorable discharge. He returned to the University of Minnesota then returned home to farm with his dad and eventually his brothers, R. David and Tom. Jon was an active member in his community. He was a member of the Jaycees and served as both regional and district director and was elected to the MN JCI Senate. He served on the board of directors of Waseca-Janesville Ag. Co-op as well as its successor Southern Valley Co-op. He was on the Waseca County Soil and Water Conservation Board and was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church serving as a Trustee. He was also a member of the Janesville American Legion Post 281. In his free time, he enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was strongly committed to his family, especially his nieces and nephews, as well as his lifelong friends. He was a funny, hardworking, loyal, and kind man who will be dearly missed. A special thank you to Bridgewater and St. Croix Hospice for their care and compassion. Bonita Lorene (Craker) Bequette age 91 died July 12, 2024. Bonita was born May 10, 1933 to Nando and Olga (Krueger) Craker in Fall Creek, WI. She was raised in Fairchild, WI., where she was baptized, confirmed, met her future husband (Don) and later married there. She graduated high school, and continued studies in business machines and office procedures and ended up working at Lutheran Brotherhood. Don was drafted into the Army and they lived the Army life for 2 years.They started their family in 1954 with a son Ronald and then Bryon in 1958. Green Bay was their home while Don worked for North Central Airlines. With a promotion, they moved to Upper Michigan for a short stint and then moved to Mankato in 1958. They began a business for travel services entitled All Seasons Tour and Travel located in the Madison East Mall. After her sons were both in school, she worked at various part time jobs, the latest was at Carlson Craft for 30 years. She enjoyed the fellowship of co-workers and many friends in the various departments. Ron and Bryon gave her seven grandsons: Mike (Joanna), Joe (Margaret), Tom (Kristy), David, Stephen, John, and Daniel. Years later along came six great-grandchildren: Isabel, Bales, Jaci, Raider, Felicity and Nova. She had great joy with each of them. Bonnie was a permanent and loyal fan of all their sports and activities. One of her hobbies was genealogy after her father told his children that Charles Dickens was an ancestor on his father's side. She is survived by Ronald (Becky) of St. Clair and Bryon (Debbie) of Excelsior and their families. Many other close dear relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 69 years, Don, four sisters, one brother, one grandson, and one great-grandchild. She enjoyed playing cards, gardening, watching Jeopardy, doing crossword puzzles, and watching her children and grandchildren participate in sports; especially football and wrestling in high school and college level. Most importantly Mary Rose was a wonderful mom, and grandma. Lynn worked as a hard-working dedicated crop farmer in rural Nicollet his entire life. In his evenings, Lynn also worked for many years at Brown's Printing in Waseca. When he wasn't working on the farm, Lynn enjoyed listening to old tyme music and polka dancing at area festivals and ballrooms. He also enjoyed attending area county fairs to visit with other local farm families. Lynn enjoyed the friendships made and the laugh shared while bowling over the years. To relax, Lynn always enjoyed going for a nice Sunday drive to check the area crops, spending time working in his garden, and going out to dinners. Lynn was a lifetime member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in rural Courtland. Although his passing was sudden and unexpected to most, his memory will forever live on in the hearts and minds of all who knew him best. Marianne (Stoffels) Funk, resident of The Pillars of Mankato since November 2023, died there peacefully June 23, 2024, her generous heart and active mind and spirit stilled at 97 years.Born in St. Paul August 29, 1926. Humboldt High School graduate, 1944; World War II secretarial service, U.S. Treasury Department, Washington, DC. Back in St. Paul, met WWII veteran Tom Funk at a local dance. Married in 1948, their Catholic faith, outdoor and athletic interests, and close ties to their large extended families anchored them for 60 years of marriage, while raising two daughters and caring for their elderly parents. Tom, a St. Paul police officer 34 years, died in 2009.Marianne was a caring neighbor, faithful and supportive spouse, attentive and loving mother and stellar grandmother, known for her beaming smile, positive encouragement, wisdom and wit. A dedicated homemaker and hostess, she was always conscious of good nutrition; logging countless miles, she was an active walker since youth till two days before her death.As her breaths shortened and her heart slowed, she did what she had done across her lifetime - asked Jesus and Mother Mary for help. As always, her prayer life sustained her and her faith principles guided her words and actions. Though gone from our sight, she remains our model and guide.Marianne was predeceased by her parents, in-laws, husband Thomas Funk and brother Richard (Evelyn) Stoffels. Philip J. Murphy (Phil) of Madelia, MN passed away at the age of 84 on July 6, 2024, due to complications from treatment for lymphoma. Philip was born on January 12, 1940, to Roy and Bernadine Murphy. The oldest of six children, he grew up on the family farm outside of Madelia in Ceresco Township. There he learned the value of hard work, being frugal, and the art of shooting baskets with a corncob into the basketball rim his father had attached to the barn. Most importantly, his parents taught him the value of getting an education, a lesson which he later passed along to his own children. He attended Madelia High School where he participated in football, baseball, and his favorite sport of basketball. While he was not a star player on the team, he did make a half-court shot to win one game, and often bragged about fouling out in less than a quarter in another game, which he thought had to qualify as some sort of record. He graduated in 1958 from Madelia and then attended St. John's University. There he was humorously accused of "flaunting his B average" to his fellow classmates, many of whom carried much better GPAs. He also was elected president of the "Stein Club" at the LaPlayette Bar in St. Joseph's, which entitled him to unlimited 5 cent beer refills. Late in his senior year, through mutual friends, he met the love of his life, Rosemary (Gage) Murphy, who was then a student at St. Catherine's University. He graduated from St. John's in 1962 and attended law school at the University of Minnesota. He and Rosemary were married on December 28, 1963, in Mount Prospect, IL.After graduating from law school in 1965, he passed the MN bar exam and was sworn in as a lawyer on the same day the MN Twins played and won Game 6 of the World Series against the LA Dodgers, a game which he also attended. It is a tossup which event he enjoyed more. He and Rosemary settled in Madelia, where he joined Cecil J. Manahan's law office. He was a "small town" lawyer for the next 50+ years. He served as City Attorney for many of those years, served as District President of the MN State Bar Association, mentored numerous young attorneys, and provided legal services to countless clients with dedication, integrity, and compassion. Phil loved his lifelong hometown of Madelia, MN and there he and Rosemary raised their six children. He was an active member of the community and, in particular, of the St. Mary's parish, where he helped start the Parish Endowment Fund and was still actively serving on the Calvary Cemetery Board. Phil was a pillar of the community and never stopped donating his time to any cause that made the town stronger, including the Lions Club, Watonwan County Historical Society, Farmers State Bank Board, Madelia Strong, countless school and community fundraisers, and volunteering as a Senior Driver for those in need. He deeply loved any type of reunion, and particularly enjoyed Madelia's All School Reunions when he would get a chance to catch up with many Madelia High School alumni. He also loved keeping in touch with his many St. John 's friends and classmates. If there was any chance to connect with people, Phil was there. A passionate sports fan, Phil marked time by major sporting events and was a dedicated follower of all professional Minnesota sports teams, the St John's Johnnies, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, and any small-town Minnesota team who made it to the State High School Basketball Tournament. Phil also loved to keep up on current events and read several newspapers every day.Phil's greatest joy was his family. He loved being involved in the lives of his six children, attending all of their various high school sporting and band events (including away games). He was proud of putting all six children through college, and enjoyed visiting them on campus. He also adored his seven grandchildren, with whom he loved spending time playing card games, taking walks around Lake Harriet, and of course attending their basketball games and swimming meets.Philip and Rosemary enjoyed traveling and took many trips to Europe and Latin America, including to Chile, where they were able to visit Jalil Said, the foreign exchange student they had hosted in 1991. Philip is preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Bernadine Murphy, and his sister Kathleen. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Rosemary, and their six children and spouses: Christopher, Margaret (Steve Olin), Matthew (Liz Meiley), Gregory (David Engen), Joseph (Carolyn), and Thomas (Becky), and grandchildren Juliet, Connor, Liam, Teddy, Charlie, Madeline, and Anna. He is also survived by his siblings and their spouses: Capt. Rosemary Murphy, Suzie (Leon) Corressell, Sheila Murphy, and John (Alece) Murphy, as well as his nieces and nephews, and many dear friends from every chapter of his life.Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, July 17th from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. at Sturm Funeral Home in Madelia, and again at 9 a.m. on Thursday morning. He worked for local contractors and cabinet shops until starting Klink's Woodworking and Construction in July of 2001. Jeff installed for local businesses and big box stores for 13 years. Most recently, he enjoyed returning to serving local customers and contractors in the Madelia area. Jeff gave his time and talents to others, expecting nothing in return. He was quick to action when there was a call for help. He had the best advice for his family and gave life lessons whether we needed them or not. He took time out of his busy schedule to instill Boy Scout values with his sons, later acting in both assistant scoutmaster and scoutmaster roles for the Madelia troop. Jeff was known for telling "dad" jokes, making people laugh and his unwavering love of anything John Deere. He was an all around great person - an admirable family man, a giving husband, father, grandfather, brother, son and community member. He was certainly not finished giving to those he loved and cared for and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
